About Us
75+ Years Serving Die Casters
The only surface treatment company focused exclusively on die cast tooling. Our engineers bring deep expertise in the metallurgy and failure modes that matter to your operation.
Our Story
Built for Die Casters, by Die Casters
PROLONG Surface Technologies exists for one reason: to extend the life of die cast tooling. While other treatment companies spread their attention across injection molding, forging, stamping, and a dozen other industries, we focus exclusively on the unique challenges of die casting.
That singular focus has built deep expertise. Our engineers understand the specific failure modes (heat checking, soldering, washout) that die casters face every day. We've developed treatments that address these problems at the metallurgical level instead of borrowing generic coatings from other industries.
Die casters come back because the results are measurable. One OEM documented a 75% downtime reduction on a controlled four-die test.
Our Facility
St. Charles, Illinois
Our St. Charles facility houses the largest and most capable die cast tooling treatment machinery in North America. Every piece of equipment is purpose-built for the demands of treating die casting tooling.
Quality begins at intake. Our die cast engineers inspect every incoming tool, flagging unusual welds, plugs, and inserts before treatment begins. This hands-on assessment ensures the right treatment approach for each die's specific condition.
Throughout the process, we use systematic QA sampling to verify treatment consistency. Performance is repeatable across batches, so customers can plan production around it.
Our Team
Die Cast Engineers, Not Salespeople
Our team brings over 75 years of combined experience in tool-steel metallurgy, aluminum-alloy behavior, and die-cast failure analysis. Every engineer on staff has worked die-cast tooling for years before joining PROLONG.
When you call PROLONG, you talk to a die cast engineer. We assess your tooling and recommend the right treatment for your steel, alloy, and shot volume.
Team photos and individual bios coming soon. In the meantime, call us at (630) 762-6500 . You'll talk to an engineer.
